UPO6000LP-SENT Automotive Sensor Bus Trigger and Analysis Option (SENT)
Overview
The UPO6000LP-SENT adds SAE J2716 SENT (Single Edge Nibble Transmission) triggering and decoding to your UPO6000LP Series oscilloscope. It decodes both the fast channel and the slow serial channel — short and enhanced formats — with a clock tick from 500 ns to 300 µs, a sync-pulse tolerance from 3% to 30%, and support for messages with or without pause pulses.
Why it matters: SENT is how modern sensors — throttle position, pressure, temperature, mass air flow — report to the ECU. Because every value is encoded as the time between falling edges, a small timing error becomes a wrong reading rather than an obvious fault. The option decodes those nibbles for you and triggers on the CRC and pulse errors that reveal the problem.
The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the oscilloscope's serial number and is permanent for the life of the instrument.

- Four Decoders at Once — Up to four buses can be decoded simultaneously (Decode 1–4), so this protocol can be read alongside the standard RS-232/UART, I²C and SPI decoders on the same capture.

When You Need This Option
The option fits the following workflows:
- Sensor Validation — Verify a sensor's reported value, status nibble and CRC against its datasheet while you vary the physical input.
- ECU Input Debug — When an ECU rejects sensor data, trigger on the CRC or pulse error and see whether the tick timing, edge quality or the sensor itself is at fault.

This option is compatible with all UPO6000LP Series oscilloscopes: UPO6034LP (350 MHz, 4 ch), UPO6038LP (350 MHz, 8 ch), UPO6054LP (500 MHz, 4 ch), UPO6058LP (500 MHz, 8 ch), UPO6104LP (1 GHz, 4 ch) and UPO6108LP (1 GHz, 8 ch).

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I buy this individually or get a bundle?
If SENT is the only optional protocol you need, this license covers exactly that. UPO6000LP-AUTO adds CAN, CAN-FD, LIN and FlexRay in one license — usually the better buy for powertrain and ECU work.
How is this option activated?
Buy the option key from your UNI-T distributor, then enter the key and the oscilloscope's serial number on the License Activation page of the UNI-T website to generate a license file. Copy the file to the root of a USB drive and activate it under Utility > Options. The Options screen then lists the option as Activated, with a duration of Permanent.
Can I try it first, and is the license permanent?
Yes to both. Every UPO6000LP option includes a 540-hour trial on the instrument, so you can prove it on your own hardware before you buy. Once activated, the license is permanent for the life of the oscilloscope — no subscriptions, no renewals and no expiration.
