MSO3000HD-SENT Automotive SENT Sensor Bus Trigger and Analysis
Overview
The MSO3000HD-SENT adds SENT (Single Edge Nibble Transmission, SAE J2716) protocol triggering, decoding, and search to your MSO3000HD Series oscilloscope. SENT is a point-to-point sensor interface for automotive throttle, pressure, airflow, and temperature sensors.
SENT transmits digital data on a single wire, immune to analog noise and ground offsets. This decode reads sensor data values directly from the oscilloscope screen. The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the oscilloscope's serial number and is permanent for the life of the instrument.
Key Features
- SENT Triggering — Trigger on fast channel data, slow channel messages, or error conditions.
- Fast and Slow Channel Decoding — Decodes fast channel (primary sensor data) and slow channel (config/diagnostics).
- Nibble-Level Display — Individual nibble values and timing overlaid on the waveform for SAE J2716 verification.
- CRC Verification — Checks CRC for every message — essential for detecting intermittent failures.
- Lifetime License Activation — activate once, owned for the life of the instrument. No subscriptions, no renewals, no maintenance fees.
When You Need This Option
The option fits the following workflows:
- Sensor Validation — Verify SENT-output pressure sensor data accuracy — digital values shown in real time alongside the pulse train.
- ECU Input Debug — ECU reports erratic throttle readings. Decode SENT to find whether the sensor or ECU is at fault.
Compatibility
This option is compatible with all MSO3000HD Series oscilloscopes: MSO3024HD (200 MHz), MSO3034HD (350 MHz), MSO3054HD (500 MHz). The same capability is offered on other UNI-T oscilloscope families: MSO2000X, MSO3000X, MSO5000HD, MSO7000X, MSO8000HD, UPO7000L.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I buy this individually or get a bundle?
If you only need SENT, the individual license covers exactly that protocol. The AUTO bundle adds the automotive protocols in one license. The BND bundle includes every protocol in the series.
How is this option activated?
The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the oscilloscope's serial number. After purchase, the license is registered on the UNI-T website to generate the license file, which is then loaded onto the instrument from a USB drive through the option-install menu. Refer to the oscilloscope's user manual for the step-by-step procedure.
Is the license permanent, or does it require renewal?
The license is permanent — a one-time purchase that stays active for the life of the instrument. No subscriptions, no annual renewals, and no expiration.
