MSO8000HD-SENT Automotive SENT Serial Bus Option
Overview
The MSO8000HD-SENT adds SENT (Single Edge Nibble Transmission, SAE J2716) protocol triggering, decoding, and search to your MSO8000HD Series oscilloscope. SENT is a point-to-point sensor interface for automotive throttle, pressure, airflow, and temperature sensors.
SENT transmits digital data on a single wire, immune to analog noise and ground offsets. This decode reads sensor data values directly from the oscilloscope screen. The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the oscilloscope's serial number and is permanent for the life of the instrument.
Key Features
- SENT Triggering — Trigger on fast channel data, slow channel messages, or error conditions.
- Fast and Slow Channel Decoding — Decodes fast channel (primary sensor data) and slow channel (config/diagnostics).
- Nibble-Level Display — Individual nibble values and timing overlaid on the waveform for SAE J2716 verification.
- CRC Verification — Checks CRC for every message — essential for detecting intermittent failures.
- Lifetime License Activation — activate once, owned for the life of the instrument. No subscriptions, no renewals, no maintenance fees.
When You Need This Option
The option fits the following workflows:
- Sensor Validation — Verify SENT-output pressure sensor data accuracy — digital values shown in real time alongside the pulse train.
- ECU Input Debug — ECU reports erratic throttle readings. Decode SENT to find whether the sensor or ECU is at fault.
Compatibility
This option is compatible with the MSO8000HD Series: MSO8804HD (8 GHz). The same capability is offered on other UNI-T oscilloscope families: MSO2000X, MSO3000HD, MSO3000X, MSO5000HD, MSO7000X, UPO7000L.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I buy this individually or get a bundle?
If you only need SENT, the individual license covers exactly that protocol. The BND bundle includes every protocol in the series.
How is this option activated?
The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the oscilloscope's serial number. After purchase, the license is registered on the UNI-T website to generate the license file, which is then loaded onto the instrument from a USB drive through the option-install menu. Refer to the oscilloscope's user manual for the step-by-step procedure.
Is the license permanent, or does it require renewal?
The license is permanent — a one-time purchase that stays active for the life of the instrument. No subscriptions, no annual renewals, and no expiration.
