UTS7000A Spectrum Analyzers

The UTS7000A line is an Interceptor-Series microwave signal analyzer family covering 9 kHz to 40 GHz across four frequency tiers β€” 13.6, 26.5, 32, and 40 GHz. Each tier ships in two variants: the base model for swept spectrum analysis and the -NB variant which adds 20 MHz real-time analysis bandwidth for capturing transient signals. All eight models share an 11.6-inch TFT-LCD touchscreen, internal preamp, and full automation-grade remote control. The UTS7000A uses a lifetime-unlock option architecture β€” every option is a one-time purchase, permanently activated to the instrument. The B85, B160, and B255 licenses expand real-time analysis bandwidth to 85 MHz, 160 MHz, or 255 MHz for wider transient capture and signal-of-interest work. The VSA license adds vector signal analysis with digital demodulation for ASK, FSK, PSK, QAM, MSK, and DPSK signals. The I/Q license unlocks I/Q modulation analysis. The EMI license converts the analyzer into a CISPR-conformant pre-compliance receiver. The AMA license adds AM, FM, and PM analog demodulation. The AMK license adds the Advanced Measurement Kit (channel power, ACP, OBW, TOI, CNR, harmonic distortion). The NR license adds 5G New Radio demodulation; FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE licenses cover LTE measurement; PNM adds phase noise measurement. Tier-specific preamplifier licenses (P13, P26, P32, P40) add gain across each frequency range for low-level signal work.

Tip: Frequency range cannot be upgraded after purchase. If needs may grow, step up one model.

Decision 2: Standard or Narrowband?

Standard (Upgradeable)

Ships with 40 MHz RTSA bandwidth. Upgradeable to 85, 160, or 255 MHz via options B85/B160/B255.

Choose if you work with wideband signals (Wi-Fi 80/160 MHz, 5G NR >20 MHz, wideband radar, multi-carrier satellite) or want future upgrade flexibility.

Narrowband (-NB)

Fixed at 20 MHz RTSA bandwidth. Cannot be upgraded.

Choose if you primarily work with narrowband signals (single LTE ≀20 MHz, IoT channels, CW, component test, EMC pre-compliance) and want a lower initial investment.

Bandwidth Options (Standard Models Only)

Option BW Use Case
Standard 40 MHz Wi-Fi 20/40 MHz, LTE ≀20 MHz, IoT, EMC
B85 85 MHz Wi-Fi 80 MHz, 5G carrier aggregation, FMCW radar
B160 160 MHz Wi-Fi 6E 160 MHz, wideband 5G NR, satellite transponders
B255 255 MHz Maximum capture, multi-carrier, widest 5G NR

Important: -NB models cannot be upgraded. If wider bandwidth is possible in the future, start with a standard model.
