UPO6000LP-FLEX Automotive Serial Bus Trigger and Analysis Option (FlexRay)
Overview
The UPO6000LP-FLEX adds FlexRay triggering and decoding to your UPO6000LP Series oscilloscope. It decodes channel A or B at 2.5, 5 or 10 Mbps (or a custom rate), from a differential (BDiff) probe or from either single-ended line (BP or BM), and breaks each frame into header, payload and trailer.
Why it matters: FlexRay is a deterministic, time-triggered bus used where timing is safety-critical — chassis, braking, steering and x-by-wire systems. Problems show up as header or frame CRC errors and empty static or dynamic slots, and the option lets you trigger directly on each of those and inspect the 10 Mbps differential waveform with 12-bit resolution.
The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the oscilloscope's serial number and is permanent for the life of the instrument.
Key Features
- Frame-Level Triggering — Start of frame, indicator bits (normal, null, sync and startup frames), frame ID, cycle count, full header field, data (1–16 bytes with byte offset), ID and data, and end of frame for static, dynamic or all frames.
- Error Triggers — Header CRC, frame CRC, static and dynamic empty-slot errors, and sync or startup frame conditions.
- Event List and Export — Decoded frames appear on the trace and in a time-stamped event list (hex, decimal or binary), which can be saved as CSV, HTML or PDF to internal storage or USB for reports and offline analysis.
- Four Decoders at Once — Up to four buses can be decoded simultaneously (Decode 1–4), so this protocol can be read alongside the standard RS-232/UART, I²C and SPI decoders on the same capture.
- Lifetime License Activation — activate once, owned for the life of the instrument. No subscriptions, no renewals, no maintenance fees.
When You Need This Option
The option fits the following workflows:
- Chassis and Safety ECUs — Confirm an ECU transmits in its assigned static slot, in the right cycle, with a valid header — and trigger on the cycle where it does not.
- Physical-Layer Validation — Inspect the edges, levels and ringing of the 10 Mbps differential signal in the same capture as the decoded frames.

This option is compatible with all UPO6000LP Series oscilloscopes: UPO6034LP (350 MHz, 4 ch), UPO6038LP (350 MHz, 8 ch), UPO6054LP (500 MHz, 4 ch), UPO6058LP (500 MHz, 8 ch), UPO6104LP (1 GHz, 4 ch) and UPO6108LP (1 GHz, 8 ch).

Should I buy this individually or get a bundle?
If FlexRay is the only optional protocol you need, this license covers exactly that. UPO6000LP-AUTO adds CAN, CAN-FD, LIN and SENT in one license, and UPO6000LP-BND unlocks every optional serial bus on the UPO6000LP.
How is this option activated?
Buy the option key from your UNI-T distributor, then enter the key and the oscilloscope's serial number on the License Activation page of the UNI-T website to generate a license file. Copy the file to the root of a USB drive and activate it under Utility > Options. The Options screen then lists the option as Activated, with a duration of Permanent.
Can I try it first, and is the license permanent?
Yes to both. Every UPO6000LP option includes a 540-hour trial on the instrument, so you can prove it on your own hardware before you buy. Once activated, the license is permanent for the life of the oscilloscope — no subscriptions, no renewals and no expiration.
