Overview

The UPO1082HD is an 80 MHz, 2-channel digital oscilloscope built around UNI-T's R12™ 12-bit ADC architecture, with 1.25 GSa/s real-time sample rate, 100 Mpts memory depth, and a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen. Native 12-bit resolution gives 4,096 vertical levels — 16× the detail of an 8-bit instrument — enough to resolve power-supply ripple, sensor outputs, and small AC signals riding on DC offsets where 8-bit scopes lose them in the quantization floor.

USB-C power-bank operation off any 12V/3A PD source, a 1.56 kg chassis, and a VESA 100×100 mm mounting pattern make the UPO1082HD a real bench scope that fits where a bench scope usually doesn't — service vehicles, field cabinets, teaching benches with no rear AC outlet.

Detailed Features

R12™ — Real 12-Bit Architecture

R12™ is UNI-T's native 12-bit ADC architecture. It samples at 4,096 quantization levels — sixteen times the vertical detail of a conventional 8-bit oscilloscope — and holds that resolution at the full 80 MHz bandwidth and 1.25 GSa/s sample rate. There's no ERES averaging step, no sample-rate trade, and no asterisk on the spec sheet. Background noise is 60 µVrms at full bandwidth, low enough that the Real 12-bit resolution actually shows up on the screen instead of being buried in the noise floor.

For switching-power-supply ripple, sensor signal conditioning, audio-band measurements, and any application where a small AC signal rides on a larger DC offset, the resolution gain is the difference between a usable trace and quantization steps.

Ultra Phosphor 3.0

Ultra Phosphor 3.0 pushes waveform mapping to a 20 Gbps processing rate with 256-level intensity grading. The result is a waveform capture rate of up to 500,000 wfms/s in sequence mode (100,000 wfms/s standard) — fast enough to catch the intermittent events that slower oscilloscopes spend hours missing. Intensity grading reveals signal probability density at a glance: rare anomalies show up as faint streaks against a bright baseline trace, where flat-color displays just paint over them.

Built-In Power Analysis

Power analysis is standard, not an optional package. Twelve measurement functions cover power quality, current harmonics, switching loss, RDS(on), SOA, modulation, output ripple, startup/shutdown time, conversion rate, and power efficiency. Connect the appropriate voltage and current probe (UT-P30 / UT-P31 / UT-P32 differential probes and the UT-P40 series current probes are available as accessories), pick the analysis type, and the oscilloscope drives the rest of the workflow.

For an oscilloscope at this tier, this is the line where the UPO1082HD stops behaving like a value-tier instrument. Most scopes in this price band expect a separate power analyzer or a paid software unlock; this one ships with the analysis built in.

Protocol Decoding Included

RS-232/UART, I²C, SPI, CAN, and LIN trigger and decode are standard — no protocol licenses, no add-on packages. Decoded bus traffic overlays the waveform with field-level annotation, and event-list view exports the captured frames for offline analysis. Up to four parallel decode windows run at once, useful when correlating an SPI command stream against a CAN response on a mixed automotive or industrial control board.

Zone Trigger and Sequence Mode

Zone trigger isolates a region of interest by rectangle drawing on the display: must-intersect or must-not-intersect, two zones, any of CH1–CH2 as source. The waveform doesn't have to stabilize first — the zone captures and stabilizes simultaneously, which is what zone trigger is actually for. Combined with twelve trigger types (edge, pulse width, video, runt, slope, delay, timeout, duration, setup-and-hold, Nth edge, code pattern), it handles the trigger conditions that drive engineers to a higher-tier scope on most other platforms.

Sequence mode captures up to 500,000 trigger-conditioned frames at 2 ns minimum intervals, with hardware real-time recording up to 100,000 frames available for non-stop signal logging and USB export.

56 Automated Measurements + DVM + Frequency Counter

56 automated measurements cover voltage, time, frequency, edges, burst, setup-and-hold, delay, and phase, with up to 21 parameters on screen simultaneously and statistics (mean, max, min, standard deviation, count) available per parameter. Histograms and trend charts make distribution and drift visible without exporting to a PC.

A 4-digit DVM (DC, AC RMS, AC+DC RMS) and a 6-digit hardware frequency counter run on the same channels in parallel with scope acquisition — no probe swapping, no separate instrument.

USB-C Power-Bank Operation and VESA Mounting

The UPO1082HD runs off any 12V/3A PD-protocol USB-C power source. A field-rated power bank, a vehicle PD adapter, or a workbench USB-C charger all qualify. Combined with the 1.56 kg chassis and a VESA 100×100 mm mounting pattern on the rear panel, the scope deploys on a service truck, a flight-test rack, a teaching cart, or a wall-mounted bench where standard AC-powered scopes don't fit.

Power consumption is 65 W maximum.

SCPI + WebServer + Touch UI

SCPI over LAN handles automated test integration. WebServer access — built into the firmware — exports waveforms, runs SCPI from a browser, and displays the user manual on a phone or PC, no client install required. The 7-inch 1024×600 capacitive touchscreen supports tap, drag, pinch-zoom, and rectangle-draw gestures alongside the front-panel knobs and keys, plus mouse and keyboard if a buyer wants them. AUX Out carries Trig Out, Pass/Fail, and DVM signals; HDMI drives an external monitor or projector for classroom and review-meeting setups.

Frequently Asked Questions

What protocol decoders are included?

RS-232/UART, I²C, SPI, CAN, and LIN — five protocols, all standard. There are no optional protocol licenses; the full decoder set ships with the instrument.

What is the advantage of 12-bit resolution at this bandwidth tier?

A 12-bit ADC provides 4,096 vertical levels compared to 256 for an 8-bit scope — 16× greater detail. On switching power supplies, sensor signal-conditioning circuits, and any waveform with a small AC component riding on a DC offset, the resolution gain is the difference between a usable measurement and a quantization-stepped trace. The UPO1082HD's R12™ architecture holds Real 12-bit resolution at the full 80 MHz bandwidth and 1.25 GSa/s sample rate — no ERES averaging step.

Can the UPO1082HD run on battery or USB-C power bank?

Yes. Any USB-C power source delivering 12V/3A over the PD protocol will run the scope at full performance — USB-C power banks, vehicle PD adapters, and workbench USB-C chargers all qualify. The included AC adapter is a USB-C PD source as well.

Does the UPO1082HD include a built-in signal generator?

No. The UPO1000HD series is a pure DSO with no AWG. For a 1-channel 25 MHz built-in AWG in the same 2-channel chassis, see the MSO1154HD-S or MSO1254HD.

Is firmware upgradeable in the field?

Yes. Firmware updates are free for the lifetime of the product, delivered through the WebServer interface or by USB drive at the front panel.
