MSO8000HD-PSI5 Automotive PSI5 Serial Bus Option
Overview
The MSO8000HD-PSI5 adds PSI5 protocol decode to your MSO8000HD Series oscilloscope — a two-wire automotive sensor interface for airbag crash sensors, occupant detection, and restraint systems.
PSI5 uses current modulation on power supply wires. Decode shows sensor data values and sync frames from the current waveform. The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the oscilloscope's serial number and is permanent for the life of the instrument.
Key Features
- PSI5 Decoding — Sensor data frames with sync pulses, data bits, status, and CRC.
- Current-Modulated Support — Interprets data from current waveforms captured through a current probe.
- Triggering — Trigger on sensor data values, errors, or sync patterns.
- Error Detection — CRC failures, missing sync pulses, timing violations.
- Lifetime License Activation — activate once, owned for the life of the instrument. No subscriptions, no renewals, no maintenance fees.
When You Need This Option
The option fits the following workflows:
- Airbag Sensor Validation — Verify crash sensor PSI5 output: acceleration data, update rates, CRC under simulated crash conditions.
- Restraint System Integration — Airbag ECU can't read a sensor. Decode PSI5 to find bad data vs. insufficient current modulation.
Compatibility
This option is compatible with the MSO8000HD Series: MSO8804HD (8 GHz).
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I buy this individually or get a bundle?
If you only need PSI5, the individual license covers exactly that protocol. The BND bundle includes every protocol in the series.
How is this option activated?
The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the oscilloscope's serial number. After purchase, the license is registered on the UNI-T website to generate the license file, which is then loaded onto the instrument from a USB drive through the option-install menu. Refer to the oscilloscope's user manual for the step-by-step procedure.
Is the license permanent, or does it require renewal?
The license is permanent — a one-time purchase that stays active for the life of the instrument. No subscriptions, no annual renewals, and no expiration.
