UPO6000LP-TIMING Timing Analysis Option (including I2C, SPI, CAN, I2S)

Overview

The UPO6000LP-TIMING adds bus timing analysis to your UPO6000LP Series oscilloscope. For I²C, SPI, CAN and I²S buses, it measures the electrical timing parameters that the protocol specifications define β€” pulse width, amplitude, edge times, setup time and hold time β€” and exports the results as a conformance test report.

Why it matters: decoding tells you what was sent; timing analysis tells you whether it was sent within specification. A bus can decode perfectly on the bench and still fail in production, at temperature or with a different peripheral because setup or hold margin is too thin. Phones, wearables, appliances, audio/video equipment and automotive electronics all depend on that margin, and a written report is what a design review or customer audit asks for.

The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the oscilloscope's serial number and is permanent for the life of the instrument.

Key Features

  • Four Bus Types β€” I²C, SPI, CAN and I²S.
  • Specification Parameters β€” Pulse width, amplitude, edge (rise/fall), setup time and hold time measured on the real signals.
  • Conformance Reports β€” Export the results as a test report for design reviews, supplier qualification or customer documentation.
  • 12-Bit Resolution β€” Amplitude and edge measurements benefit from the UPO6000LP's 12-bit vertical resolution.
  • Lifetime License Activation β€” activate once, owned for the life of the instrument. No subscriptions, no renewals, no maintenance fees.

When You Need This Option

The option fits the following workflows:

  • Design Verification β€” Prove an I²C or SPI interface meets its timing specification with margin, not just that it decodes.
  • Supplier and Production Qualification β€” Generate the same conformance report on every build or every alternate part, so marginal timing is caught before it ships.

Compatibility

This option is compatible with all UPO6000LP Series oscilloscopes: UPO6034LP (350 MHz, 4 ch), UPO6038LP (350 MHz, 8 ch), UPO6054LP (500 MHz, 4 ch), UPO6058LP (500 MHz, 8 ch), UPO6104LP (1 GHz, 4 ch) and UPO6108LP (1 GHz, 8 ch).

The same capability is offered on other UNI-T oscilloscope families: MSO5000HD.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from protocol decode?

Decode (standard for I²C and SPI, optional for CAN and audio) shows the content of each message. Timing analysis measures whether the electrical signal meets the timing specification. They answer different questions, and timing analysis is not part of UPO6000LP-BND.

How is this option activated?

Buy the option key from your UNI-T distributor, then enter the key and the oscilloscope's serial number on the License Activation page of the UNI-T website to generate a license file. Copy the file to the root of a USB drive and activate it under Utility > Options. The Options screen then lists the option as Activated, with a duration of Permanent.

Can I try it first, and is the license permanent?

Yes to both. Every UPO6000LP option includes a 540-hour trial on the instrument, so you can prove it on your own hardware before you buy. Once activated, the license is permanent for the life of the oscilloscope β€” no subscriptions, no renewals and no expiration.
