MSO8000HD-CANFD Automotive CAN-FD Serial Bus Option
Overview
The MSO8000HD-CANFD adds CAN-FD (Controller Area Network with Flexible Data Rate) protocol triggering, decoding, and search to your MSO8000HD Series oscilloscope. Decoded CAN-FD frames appear overlaid on the analog waveform — protocol data and electrical signals visible simultaneously.
CAN-FD supports payloads up to 64 bytes at up to 8 Mbit/s. Standard in vehicles from 2020 onward, this decode also handles classic CAN frames on the same bus. The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the oscilloscope's serial number and is permanent for the life of the instrument.

Do I need this if I already have classic CAN?
Yes. CAN and CAN-FD are separate protocols. CAN-FD decode also handles classic CAN frames on the same bus.
Should I buy this individually or get a bundle?
If you only need CAN-FD, the individual license covers exactly that protocol. The BND bundle includes every protocol in the series.
How is this option activated?
The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the oscilloscope's serial number. After purchase, the license is registered on the UNI-T website to generate the license file, which is then loaded onto the instrument from a USB drive through the option-install menu.
