UPO6000LP-GEN Single-Channel 50 MHz Arbitrary Waveform Generator Option (including Gen and Bode Plot)
Overview
The UPO6000LP-GEN turns on the built-in single-channel function/arbitrary waveform generator in 4-channel UPO6000LP Series oscilloscopes, and with it the Bode plot and PSRR analysis that depend on it. The generator uses direct digital synthesis with 1 Β΅Hz frequency resolution: sine to 50 MHz, square and pulse to 15 MHz, arbitrary to 5 MHz, plus ramp, noise and DC, with AM, FM, ASK, FSK and sweep modulation.
Why it matters: to test a circuit you need to drive it as well as measure it. With the source inside the scope, one 1U instrument can stimulate a device, capture the response and plot its frequency response β a loop-gain or PSRR measurement that would otherwise need a separate generator or network analyzer, and less rack space in an automated system.
The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the oscilloscope's serial number and is permanent for the life of the instrument.
Key Features
- 50 MHz Function Generator β Sine, square, ramp, pulse, noise, DC and arbitrary waveforms at 10 mVppβ3 Vpp into 50 Ξ© or 20 mVppβ6 Vpp into high impedance, with adjustable offset, phase, duty cycle and edge times.
- 200 Built-In Arbitrary Waveforms β Common, mathematical, medical, automotive and engineering waveforms, window and trigonometric functions β and the generator can load waveform data captured on the oscilloscope screen for playback.
- Modulation and Sweep β AM, FM, ASK, FSK and frequency sweep, with modulation frequencies from 2 mHz to 50 kHz.
- Bode Plot and PSRR β Automated gain and phase sweep from 50 Hz to 50 MHz with up to 1,000 points, or a gain-only PSRR sweep for regulators, with cursors and result export.
- Lifetime License Activation β activate once, owned for the life of the instrument. No subscriptions, no renewals, no maintenance fees.
When You Need This Option
The option fits the following workflows:
- Power Supply Loop Stability β Inject a swept signal into the feedback loop, read gain and phase margin directly from the Bode plot, and check PSRR on the same setup.
- Stimulus and Response in One Box β Replay a captured real-world waveform into a device under test, or drive a filter or amplifier and measure its output, without a second instrument in the rack.
Compatibility
The generator option requires a 4-channel model: UPO6034LP (350 MHz), UPO6054LP (500 MHz) and UPO6104LP (1 GHz). It is not available on the 8-channel models.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is it only available on 4-channel models?
On the UPO6000LP, the generator output is available on the 4-channel models only; the 8-channel models do not support it. The generator is also not a serial bus decode, so it is not part of UPO6000LP-BND β it is always a separate license.
How is this option activated?
Buy the option key from your UNI-T distributor, then enter the key and the oscilloscope's serial number on the License Activation page of the UNI-T website to generate a license file. Copy the file to the root of a USB drive and activate it under Utility > Options. The Options screen then lists the option as Activated, with a duration of Permanent.
Can I try it first, and is the license permanent?
Yes to both. Every UPO6000LP option includes a 540-hour trial on the instrument, so you can prove it on your own hardware before you buy. Once activated, the license is permanent for the life of the oscilloscope β no subscriptions, no renewals and no expiration.
