UTS3000-TG Tracking Generator Option

Overview

The UTS3000-TG adds a tracking generator — swept source synchronized with the analyzer for measuring insertion loss, return loss, and frequency response of filters, amplifiers, cables, and components. The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the spectrum analyzer's serial number and is permanent for the life of the instrument.

Key Features

  • Synchronized Sweep — Output tracks analyzer center frequency for stimulus-response measurements.
  • Component Characterization — Measure insertion loss, passband flatness, and rejection directly.
  • Cable Testing — Cable loss, antenna return loss, connector insertion loss across frequency.
  • Normalization — Reference sweep calibration removes system losses.
  • Lifetime License Activation — activate once, owned for the life of the instrument. No subscriptions, no renewals, no maintenance fees.

When You Need This Option

The option fits the following workflows:

  • Filter Testing — Sweep a bandpass filter to verify center frequency, bandwidth, insertion loss, and rejection.
  • Cable Loss — Measure cable attenuation vs. frequency to select appropriate cables.

Compatibility

This option is compatible with all UTS3000B/T Series spectrum analyzers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this option activated?

The option is enabled by a software license keyed to the spectrum analyzer's serial number. After purchase, the license is registered on the UNI-T website to generate the license file, which is then loaded onto the spectrum analyzer from a USB drive through the option-install menu. Refer to the spectrum analyzer's user manual for the step-by-step procedure.

Is the license permanent, or does it require renewal?

The license is permanent — a one-time purchase that stays active for the life of the instrument. No subscriptions, no annual renewals, and no expiration.
