UNI-T UTG962E 60 MHz 2Ch Arbitrary Waveform Generator: Palm-Sized Dual-Channel Function Generator
Overview
The UNI-T UTG962E is a palm-sized two-channel arbitrary waveform generator producing 60 MHz sine output, 20 MHz square and pulse, with 200 MSa/s sampling and 14-bit vertical resolution. It is the bandwidth-extended member of the UTG900E Classic-Series β identical chassis, sample rate, modulation set, and DAC resolution as the UTG932E, with double the top-end sine output frequency.
Two independent channels, AM/FM/PM/FSK modulation, linear and logarithmic sweep, 24 non-volatile arbitrary waveforms, and a built-in 7-digit frequency counter β all in a 172 Γ 90 Γ 68 mm, 0.33 kg chassis running from a 5 V / 2 A USB-style adapter. For applications that benefit from extended bandwidth without giving up portability β communications-class teaching, RF-adjacent stimulus, audio-and-up sensor simulation.

UNI-T UTG962E Details
60 MHz Sine Output in a Palm-Sized Chassis
Double the bandwidth of the UTG932E with no change to chassis size, weight, or power input. The 60 MHz sine output (20 MHz on square and pulse) extends the usable range into communications-adjacent territory while keeping the palm-sized form factor and USB-style 5 V power that defines the Classic-Series.
Palm-Sized Portability
The 172 Γ 90 Γ 68 mm chassis and 0.33 kg weight match the UTG932E β the bandwidth upgrade does not change the footprint. 5 V / 2 A USB-style power means it runs from any standard wall adapter or USB power source. Built for benches that move, classrooms with rotating station assignments, and field calibration where a bench-sized instrument is more than the workflow needs.
4 Modulation Types β AM, FM, PM, FSK
AM, FM, PM, and FSK with internal source covers the standard analog and digital modulation needs for sensor simulation, communications-class instruction, and bench testing. Carrier waveforms include sine, square, ramp, and arbitrary; modulation waveform options include sine, square, ramp, noise, and arbitrary.
Linear and Logarithmic Sweep
Linear and logarithmic frequency-sweep modes cover component characterization across the full 60 MHz output range. Sweep time spans 1 ms to 500 s with Β±0.1% accuracy.
24 Built-In Arbitrary Waveforms
24 non-volatile arbitrary waveforms cover the engineering shapes most often needed for stimulus generation β ramp variants, exponential decay, log curves, cardiac and ECG profiles, sin(x)/x, gaussian, and more. 4 kpts arbitrary waveform length for custom shapes uploaded over USB from the upper-computer software.
Connectivity
The UTG962E has one USB-Device port (Type-B, connects to PC for SCPI-based control and arbitrary waveform upload) and one multi-function FSK / CNT / Sync BNC (TTL-compatible). The multi-function BNC carries three roles, one at a time: external FSK trigger input, frequency-counter input, and sync output. Sync output must be disabled before the counter function can be enabled on the same port.
Applications
Education and Teaching Labs (Higher-Bandwidth Curriculum)
The 60 MHz top-end output extends the UTG962E's reach into communications-class and signal-processing labs that don't fit comfortably within a 30 MHz envelope. Palm-sized chassis and USB-style power keep the per-station footprint small β one unit per student station without AC strip clutter.
Communications and RF-Adjacent Stimulus
60 MHz sine output reaches into HF and low VHF stimulus territory. With AM, FM, PM, and FSK modulation and 1 Β΅Hz frequency resolution, the UTG962E supports communications-receiver alignment, IF-stage testing, and crystal-oscillator characterization at frequencies the UTG932E cannot reach.
Audio and Sensor-Network Stimulus
For accelerometer simulation, vibration-stand drive, and high-frequency sensor testing, 60 MHz extends the usable bandwidth past the limits of audio-tier function generators while keeping the form factor portable.
Engineering Bench β Second Source with Extended Reach
Engineers who keep a UTG932E as a portable second source upgrade to the UTG962E when bench coverage needs to extend past 30 MHz without committing to a full bench instrument. Same controls, same chassis, double the top-end bandwidth.

Family Members
The UTG900E Classic-Series consists of two SKUs sharing the same chassis, sample rate, modulation set, and 14-bit DAC, differing only in maximum sine output frequency:
- UTG932E β 30 MHz sine / 15 MHz square
- UTG962E β 60 MHz sine / 20 MHz square (this product)
Step Up β UTG1042X Essential-Series
If 16-bit resolution, 200 built-in arbitrary waveforms, 7 modulation types (adds ASK, PSK, PWM), pulse-burst modes (N-cycle, gated, infinite), USB-Host arbitrary upload via thumb drive, or sweep across a 40 MHz sine range are needed, the bench-form-factor UTG1042X covers similar bandwidth with a substantially expanded feature set.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's different between the UTG962E and the UTG932E?
Maximum output frequency. The UTG962E goes to 60 MHz sine / 20 MHz square; the UTG932E to 30 MHz sine / 15 MHz square. All other specifications β chassis size, sample rate, DAC resolution, modulation types, arbitrary waveforms, frequency counter, display, connectivity β are identical.
Can the UTG962E be powered from a USB port instead of the wall adapter?
The DC input is rated 5 V / 2 A. A standard wall USB adapter or USB-PD source providing that current works. The datasheet recommends the official standard power adapter for cleanest output, since power-supply ripple can couple into low-amplitude signal output.
Does the 60 MHz top-end work with all waveforms?
60 MHz is the maximum sine output. Square and pulse waves are limited to 20 MHz. Ramp goes to 400 kHz. Arbitrary waveforms cap at 10 MHz. The frequency ceilings are dictated by the 200 MSa/s sample rate, which constrains the number of samples per cycle a given waveform type needs to stay accurate.
Is the SCPI command set compatible with the UTG1000X or larger UTG2000B/X bench generators?
The UTG900E uses its own SCPI command subset documented in the UTG900E Programming Manual. Commands and parameter ranges differ across the UNI-T waveform generator lineup β scripts written for one series should not be assumed to port directly to another.
Does the UTG962E have USB-Host (thumb drive) input?
No. The UTG962E's USB port is USB-Device only β for PC connection. For thumb-drive arbitrary waveform upload, step up to the UTG1042X Essential-Series, which adds USB-Host alongside USB-Device.
