UNI-T UTG932E 30 MHz 2Ch Arbitrary Waveform Generator: Palm-Sized Dual-Channel Function Generator

Overview

The UNI-T UTG932E is a palm-sized two-channel arbitrary waveform generator producing 30 MHz sine output, 15 MHz square and pulse, with 200 MSa/s sampling and 14-bit vertical resolution. The Classic-Series sits at the entry of UNI-T's waveform-generator lineup, built around portability: 172 × 90 × 68 mm and 0.33 kg, USB-powered from a 5 V / 2 A adapter, with no separate AC cord to carry.

The full feature set bench users expect — two independent channels, AM/FM/PM/FSK modulation, linear and logarithmic sweep, 24 non-volatile arbitrary waveforms, and a built-in 7-digit frequency counter — all in a chassis that fits in one hand. Designed for education, hobby electronics, field work, and any application where a full-sized bench AWG is more instrument than the workflow needs.

UNI-T UTG932E Details

Palm-Sized Portability

The 172 × 90 × 68 mm chassis and 0.33 kg weight make the UTG932E the most compact dual-channel waveform generator in the UNI-T catalog. The 5 V / 2 A USB-style power input means it runs from any standard wall adapter or USB power source — no separate AC cord required. Built for benches that move, classrooms with rotating station assignments, and field calibration where a bench-sized instrument is more than the workflow needs.

AM, FM, PM, and FSK with internal source covers the standard analog and digital modulation needs for sensor simulation, communications-class instruction, and bench testing. Carrier waveforms include sine, square, ramp, and arbitrary; modulation waveform options include sine, square, ramp, noise, and arbitrary, so the modulating signal can match the actual scenario being modeled.

4 Modulation Types — AM, FM, PM, FSK

AM, FM, PM, and FSK with internal source covers the standard analog and digital modulation needs for sensor simulation, communications-class instruction, and bench testing. Carrier waveforms include sine, square, ramp, and arbitrary; modulation waveform options include sine, square, ramp, noise, and arbitrary, so the modulating signal can match the actual scenario being modeled.

Linear and Logarithmic Sweep

Linear and logarithmic frequency-sweep modes cover component characterization across a wide span. Sweep time spans 1 ms to 500 s with ±0.1% accuracy — fast enough for sweep-and-check work, long enough for thermal-drift characterization or filter-response capture.

UTG932E built-in arbitrary waveform library
24 non-volatile arbitrary waveforms cover the engineering shapes most often needed for stimulus generation — ramp variants, exponential decay, log curves, cardiac and ECG profiles, sin(x)/x, gaussian, and more. 4 kpts arbitrary waveform length for custom shapes uploaded over USB from the upper-computer software.

24 Built-In Arbitrary Waveforms

24 non-volatile arbitrary waveforms cover the engineering shapes most often needed for stimulus generation — ramp variants, exponential decay, log curves, cardiac and ECG profiles, sin(x)/x, gaussian, and more. 4 kpts arbitrary waveform length for custom shapes uploaded over USB from the upper-computer software.

Built-In 7-Digit Frequency Counter

A built-in frequency counter measures external signals from 100 mHz to 100 MHz (TTL compatible). Useful for verifying source frequencies against bench instruments without a separate counter on the workspace — the same shared multi-function BNC handles counter input, FSK trigger input, and sync output.

Connectivity

The UTG932E has one USB-Device port (Type-B, connects to PC for SCPI-based control and arbitrary waveform upload) and one multi-function FSK / CNT / Sync BNC (TTL-compatible). The multi-function BNC carries three roles, one at a time: external FSK trigger input, frequency-counter input, and sync output. Sync output must be disabled before the counter function can be enabled on the same port.

Applications

Education and Teaching Labs

The palm-sized chassis and USB-style power make the UTG932E a fit for electronics curriculum — one unit per student station, no shared bench AWGs queuing, no AC strip clutter. 4 modulation types and dual-channel output cover the introductory signals-and-systems labs without the over-buy that comes with a 60 MHz or higher bench instrument.

Hobby Electronics and Maker Projects

For breadboarded designs, audio projects, and microcontroller stimulus, the UTG932E provides the dual-channel signal source that hobby-tier function generators omit. 24 arbitrary waveforms and 14-bit resolution clear the bar for clean output without the cost of a bench-class instrument.

Field Calibration and Mobile Service

0.33 kg and USB-style power mean the UTG932E fits in a service kit alongside a handheld scope. For on-site instrument verification, sensor simulation, or stimulus injection during commissioning, the palm-sized form factor moves between workstations and field sites without compromise.

Engineering Bench — Second Source

For engineers whose primary AWG is committed to a long-running test setup, the UTG932E provides a flexible second source that fits in any drawer. Two independent channels, sweep, burst, and modulation cover most non-flagship bench needs.

Step Up — UTG1022X Essential-Series

If 16-bit resolution, 200 built-in arbitrary waveforms, 7 modulation types (adds ASK, PSK, PWM), pulse-burst modes (N-cycle, gated, infinite), or USB-Host arbitrary upload via thumb drive are needed, the bench-form-factor UTG1022X covers the same 20 MHz sine range with a substantially expanded feature set.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the UTG932E be powered from a USB port instead of the wall adapter?

The DC input is rated 5 V / 2 A. A standard wall USB adapter or USB-PD source providing that current works. The datasheet recommends the official standard power adapter for cleanest output, since power-supply ripple can couple into low-amplitude signal output — for high-SNR work, use the supplied adapter.

Is the SCPI command set compatible with the UTG1000X or larger UTG2000B/X bench generators?

The UTG900E uses its own SCPI command subset documented in the UTG900E Programming Manual. Commands and parameter ranges differ across the UNI-T waveform generator lineup — scripts written for one series should not be assumed to port directly to another.

Can I upload my own arbitrary waveforms?

Yes. Custom waveforms are uploaded over USB from the upper-computer software, into the 4 kpts arbitrary wave length and the 24 non-volatile waveform stores. The same software lets you draw waveforms point-by-point, import CSV, or generate from math expressions.

What's the difference between the UTG932E and the UTG962E?

Maximum output frequency. The UTG932E goes to 30 MHz sine / 15 MHz square; the UTG962E to 60 MHz sine / 20 MHz square. All other specifications — chassis size, sample rate, DAC resolution, modulation types, arbitrary waveforms, frequency counter, display, connectivity — are identical.

Does the UTG932E have USB-Host (thumb drive) input?

No. The UTG932E's USB port is USB-Device only — for PC connection. For thumb-drive arbitrary waveform upload, step up to the UTG1022X Essential-Series, which adds USB-Host alongside USB-Device.
