UTS5000A-I/Q: I/Q Analysis and Data Capture

Overview

The UTS5000A-I/Q software option enables in-phase and quadrature (I/Q) data capture, recording, and analysis on the UTS5000A Series signal analyzer. Essential for advanced signal analysis, custom demodulation algorithm development, and offline processing, this option captures raw I/Q baseband data with up to 25 MHz standard analysis bandwidth for external analysis in MATLAB, Python, or other signal processing environments. With 5,000,000 IQ sample pairs of recording depth and 14-bit ADC resolution at 90 MSa/s, the I/Q option provides the acquisition depth and fidelity needed for detailed signal characterization.

Key Features

  • I/Q Data Capture: Up to 5,000,000 IQ sample pairs per acquisition
  • High-Fidelity ADC: 14-bit resolution at 90 MSa/s sampling rate
  • 25 MHz Standard Bandwidth: Standard analysis bandwidth for wideband signal capture
  • Multiple Window Functions: Flat Top, Hanning, Gaussian, Blackman, and Blackman-Harris
  • Excellent IF Response: ±0.4 dB maximum error with 0.03 dB RMS (nominal) at center frequencies ≤3 GHz
  • Phase Linearity: 0.5° peak-to-peak, 0.2° RMS (nominal) for center frequencies ≤3 GHz
  • Trigger Options: Event-based capture for targeted signal acquisition
  • Software-Based: Can be added to existing UTS5000A analyzers via licensing

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the I/Q option and the VSA option?

The I/Q option captures raw baseband I/Q data for export and external processing—ideal for engineers developing custom demodulation algorithms or performing offline analysis in MATLAB, Python, or similar environments. The VSA option provides built-in digital demodulation with EVM measurement and constellation display for standard modulation schemes. Many engineers use both: the VSA for real-time on-instrument analysis and the I/Q option for detailed offline signal processing.

Can the I/Q option be added after purchasing the analyzer?

Yes—the I/Q option is software-based and can be added to any UTS5000A analyzer at any time through software licensing. Contact your UNI-T representative or authorized distributor for licensing and installation.

Raw I/Q data capture with 14-bit resolution and 90 MSa/s—export to MATLAB, Python, or custom processing.
